Teaching Philosophy

I have taught a variety of American and British literature courses, academic and creative writing courses, and world literature courses at the preparatory school, undergraduate, and graduate level to EFL students and English-speaking students, with oral and written English language ability ranging from beginners to the advanced level. My primary focus with the preparatory and undergraduate students was to develop their oral and written English language skills to support their college level work through the development of composition skills. In the composition courses I have taught, the students wrote in a variety of genres including informative essays, persuasive essays, thesis writing, and scientific article writing. I included vocabulary and grammar training appropriate to the need of the students in each class. I also gave them an extensive list of sources to provide models for their writing development.
